Takeaways

First, it was amazing for us to see 8 unique leaders make the Top 8. The general discourse in many communities was that Boba-ECL would dominate, and we expected the same. To see only a single Boba-ECL make it to the Top 8 was a surprise, and then to see it not make it the final was quite the shock to many.

Additionally, seeing 13 unique leaders entered, and a wide variety of Leader + Base combinations was great. Again, the expectation was a sea of Boba-ECL decks, and out of 31 entries, we only saw 5 Boba-ECL decks. The unique Chirrut, Director Krennic, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Grand Inquisitor, and Han decks were awesome to see, as we hadn’t heard all that much about them in meta discussions leading up to our event. Han landing in the Top 8 was absolutely brilliant as well.

Of course, the elephant in the room is very green and very commanding. 25 of our 31 entries featured the Command aspect. That’s not all that surprising, as we know the general belief is that Command is just that little bit better with only Spark of Rebellion cards in the pool. In fact, all of our Top 8 had Command aspects, and 5 of those decks used Energy Conversion Lab.

Overall, we learned some very interesting things, and we heard lots of ideas for decks that will battle it out in our epic May 4th $1k. We’re excited to see what everyone will bring to that event.

This is the way.
