What is Fallout: Big Iron, A Narrative Wargaming Experience? What can attendees of Too Many Games expect? Read on to find out more!

The Big Iron
Big Iron is a song by Marty Robbins that appears in Fallout: New Vegas. It tells the story of a Ranger who rides into an Old West town to take care of a ruthless outlaw, known as Texas Red. In the song, Texas Red is known for killing everyone who comes to stop him, and for terrorizing the town. The Ranger arrives, sporting his Big Iron pistol, and goads Texas Red into a fight, where he is finally taken down.
In our Big Iron scenario for Too Many Games, the theme stays the same. Outlaw Raider Texas Red has taken over a settlement with his gang, and a group of Rangers and survivors come to stop him. Of course, this group is led by a Ranger with his own Big Iron.
Nuka-Land
The setting for Big Iron is the Nuka-Land theme park. We’ve imagined this as the West Coast version of Nuka-World, a theme park built around the Nuka-Cola brand. While Nuka-World is set in Boston, Nuka-Land is set in New Mexico. The park was never opened, and still being built when the bombs fell, and it made a great location for survivors in the desert to carve out a settlement. It’s also a place very attractive to a raider like Texas Red.
The Red Gang
Texas Red is a raider with his own suit of salvaged power armor. He’s amassed a gang of ruthless and violent killers, who raid settlements across the West. They’re organized, well-equipped, and well-trained.

When the Red Gang arrived at Nuka-Land, they offer the local defense force a simple choice – join or die. The Red Gang absorbed most of the local defenders, swelling their ranks and solidifying their hold over Nuka-Land.

The Rangers
Up to five players assume control of the Rangers side. Led by the Big Iron carrying Desert Ranger, this group is an eclectic mix of survivors and militia. They’ve come together to help the Desert Ranger free the settlement from Texas Red’s grip.
Fallout Factions
The narrative scenario is built using the Fallout Factions game rules – but don’t worry, you don’t to know how to play Factions before sitting down! Factions uses a version of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system, so its east to understand, and easy to sit down and play. We’ve made this even easier by designing character cards for each player that specify exactly what each character can do, which means all players need to do is decide their next action and roll dice! The Overseer will be there to guide players through their session, and control the vicious Red Gang!
