Warmachine is the new hottest game at TBZ – coming back from it’s long slump under a new company of people who love the game!
For all the new and returning players we have around, we’ll be running a Journeyman League – the rules of which just came out around the time started stocking the game.
A Journeyman League focuses around getting your collection up to 100 points to play full games – along with getting them painted and learning the rules. We’ve added on a points system to reward players who manage to play games, play against new people, and get their models painted in a specified time period.
These points will lead to some special recognition and some minor prizing – nothing to fully compete over! The league will be a casual environment for players to learn the ropes while building up towards something greater.
What is Warmachine?
Warmachine is the ultimate clash of metal and magic! Set in a steampunk universe filled to the brim with magic and spellcasters, the various regions of the world are in continuous battle to secure their way of life or expand their evil reach.
At it’s core, Warmachine is a skirmish game based around your leader – either a Warlock or Warcaster. Warcasters generate Focus (basically mana) and use that to cast spells and power up their Warjacks. Warlocks work in the opposite way – they gain Fury by forcing their Warbeasts to take actions and then siphoning the power from them. If all of your leaders die – the game is over!
Starting Warmachine
The best place to start in the Journeyman League is with a Command Cadre as they are built to be 30 points out of the box – the exact point level we’ll be starting at!
Pictured above are a small selection of command cadres for different factions – all providing different playstyles and looks. You can see a full selection here, but I am preferential towards the Khador SKS-6. Being an elite cadre of warriors, the SKS-6 use cover and stealth to their advantage. They completely disappear into the shadows before striking, and yes that includes their massive Warjack!
